Description:

There are many variations of the ancient Chinese game of Mah Jongg, MahJongg Solitaire is one variation. Mah Jongg is played with 144 tiles: 36 sticks (tiles with spears or bamboo), 36 wheels (tiles with coins, wheels, or shields), 36 Numbers (tiles numbered 1-9), 16 winds (tiles with east, south, west and north compass directions), 12 dragons (4 red, 4 green and 4 blue dragon tiles), 4 flowers (plum, orchid, mum, or bamboo flowers), and 4 seasons (spring, summer, autumn, and winter) tiles. MahJongg Solitaire tiles are placed on the board in a dragon pattern.
Each time a plyer starts a new game, the tiles are randomly placed on the board next to each other, with some tiles on top of others, in a dragon pattern. The goal of MahJongg Solitaire is to remove matching tiles off the board two at a time.
To do this, a player must first remove the outer tiles and the tiles on top of others.
An outer tile is any tile with only one tile touching it on either side, and no tiles atop of it. Only matching tiles can be removed with the exception of the season and flower tiles.
Any flower tile can match any other flower tile, and any season tile can match any other season tile. Tiles can be selected by clicking on a tile and then clicking on a matching tile.
If the tiles are a match, the two tiles will be removed from the board, otherwise the computer will beep once. At the top left of the screen is the number of tiles remaining.
If you need help finding matching tiles, click on 'Hint' under the 'Options' menu. The game is over if a player removes all of the tiles from the board, or if there are no more matching tiles remaining.
