Assault Trooper
Genre: Board Game
Production: by -
Publication date: 1999
Description:
"Hanafuda are a set of Japanese playing cards.
They are often referred to as ""Flower cards"", because each suit is depicted by a different flower.
Each flower is representative of a calendar month around the time it comes into bloom.
Indeed, the cards depict the yearly cycle using Japanese imagery.
In addition to flowers the cards depict animals, birds, insects, a person and objects like prayer banners and a sake cup.
The cards a very colorful and can be interpreted in many different ways—only adding to the mystique. As a Japanophile, I wanted to capture the true nature of Japanese gaming.
After trying to Japanize many western card games by giving them fancy titles and card backs, I found Hanafuda documented on the Internet.
I longed to play the game myself so I bit the bullet and decided to code it (albeit a simple version of the game)."
