Software Adventure Games - Enclosure
Assault Trooper
Genre: Adventure Game
Production: by Femo Duo Entertainment
Publication date: 2005
Description:
Enclosure is a text-based adventure game, stylized after early Sierra games.
It was developed with NAGI, free rewritten version of AGI interpreter which was used to create many Sierra classics.
Game features EGA-like graphics (160*100 resolution and 16 colours), beep-like sounds imitating PC speaker and text parser. The protagonist of the story is Mike Goodman, who, together with his girlfriend Sarah Parker, runs a crooked "paranormal" business - they perform seances tricking people into believing in contacts with ghosts.
Business isnt going well, but one day Mike gets an opportunity of his lifetime.
In local pub he meets a man, named William Mayfield, who offers him 10,000$ in cash for help.
He tells Mike the story of his father, Maxwell Mayfield, a wealthy oil tycoon, who one day decided to build drilling station in Greenland, but it soon appeared to be haunted and was abandoned.
William decides to check things for himself and invites Mike and and Sarah to accompany him in solving the mystery of the station "Mary".There are shortcuts for most used commands - "l" for "look", "o" for "open" etc., however there's no "look around" command, present in old Sierra games.
Since there are many people on board, hard to tell at the beginning, F6 command was added - it displays names of all persons present in the given room.
Game features an extensive system of hints - they appear from time to time if you wander around the station far too long and without any results, so it may appeal to less experienced gamers.
Apart from traditional inventory- and conversation-based puzzles there are also two arcade sequences, one at the very beginning and one towards the end of the game.
Like in old Sierra games it is strongly advised to save the state often - death comes easy on station "Mary" if the wrong step is taken.
